Progress on Housing Affordability
The rising costs of housing and property taxes threaten the affordability of our region. As the Executive Director of the Spokane Low Income Housing Consortium, I am an experienced and accomplished affordable housing advocate. I served as Administrator on the Spokane Homeless Coalition and was appointed to the Spokane Mayor’s Task Force on Housing Quality.
I am committed to finding solutions that ensure seniors, veterans, and families aren’t pushed out of their homes. I will fight to lower property taxes and take concrete steps to end our region’s housing crisis.
Affordable and Available Healthcare
Too many in Eastern Washington cannot find or afford healthcare. Starting with reducing the price of prescription drugs, I will look for practical solutions that decrease the cost of healthcare for all. I will expand mental health coverage, so everyone in our state can get the care and support they need, regardless of their zip code. And, unlike my opponent, I will protect women’s health and hold insurance companies accountable so services like cancer screenings and mammograms are covered.
A Good Education for All Kids
With a daughter in Spokane Public Schools, I know firsthand that local districts need more support from the Legislature. In Olympia, I’ll stand up for our schools by advocating for smaller class sizes, more robust special education programs, and a fully and responsibly funded education system. I will work to expand affordable preschool opportunities for all children. I will fight to make college more affordable and to expand other post-secondary opportunities like trade schools and apprenticeships to get everyone on a career path.
Common Sense Gun Safety
I believe in the Second Amendment and support responsible gun ownership. I also know we have to take meaningful steps to protect the safety of our children and communities from gun violence. I’ll stand up for common sense laws like expanded background checks and work to keep firearms out of the hands of kids, criminals, and violent offenders.
Accountable to You
As your State Representative, I will never put the needs of special interests above those of my constituents. While my opponent voted to hide their records from the public, I am a steadfast advocate for transparency. I will be available, truthful, and responsive to voters; I’ll collaborate across the aisle to make smart and responsible investments that lead to better outcomes and new opportunities for everyone in Eastern Washington.
